About Me
I am an Assistant Professor of Data Science and Analytics at Kennesaw State University and Director of the Intelligent Computing for Advanced Research in Healthcare (iCARE) Lab. My research focuses on artificial intelligence for healthcare, with particular interests in medical image analysis, deep learning, multimodal AI, medical image segmentation, image registration, and the development of reliable computational methods for clinical research.
My research brings together academic, clinical, and industry collaboration. I collaborate with researchers at Emory University School of Medicine and the Atlanta VA Health Care System on AI and medical imaging research, and with Equifax on applied artificial intelligence, agentic systems, and data-driven research. Through the iCARE Lab, I mentor graduate and undergraduate students and work toward translating advances in AI and data science into practical solutions for healthcare and other real-world applications.

PhD Students
Saddam Hossain Irfan
Saddam Hossain Irfan is a Ph.D. student in Data Science & Analytics at Kennesaw State University and a member of the iCARE Lab. His research interests include machine learning, statistical modeling, data engineering, and healthcare analytics. Before beginning his doctoral studies, he gained more than six years of industry experience and served as a Data Scientist at Insightin Health, where he worked on predictive modeling, ETL pipeline development, and large-scale public healthcare datasets, including Medicare, CDC, and CMS data. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Applied Statistics from the University of Dhaka and has contributed to peer-reviewed quantitative research published in PLOS ONE.
Nong Ming
Nong Ming is a Ph.D. student in the Data Science and Analytics program at Kennesaw State University and a member of the iCARE Lab. She earned her Master's degree in Computer Science from Kennesaw State University in May 2025 and began her doctoral studies in Fall 2025. Her research interests include large language model–based agents, multi-agent systems, and autonomous artificial intelligence.
Vineetha Burugupalli
Vineetha Burugupalli is a Ph.D. student in Data Science & Analytics at Kennesaw State University and a member of the iCARE Lab. She earned her bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, India, and her master's degree in Data Science and Analytics from Georgia State University. Her research interests include artificial intelligence, agentic systems, multimodal data science, responsible AI, causal inference, and generative models. Her professional goals include advancing research that contributes to both academic and industry practice and developing AI systems capable of addressing complex real-world problems at scale.

Alayna Zafar
Alayna Zafar is a Biology (Pre-Med) student at Kennesaw State University with interests in medicine, artificial intelligence, and biomedical research. As a member of the 2025–2026 First-Year Scholars research team, she investigated the application of artificial intelligence to medical image analysis and cancer classification. She aspires to become an orthopedic surgeon and is interested in combining compassionate clinical care with scientific and technological innovation.
